One time CUB pitcher Milt Pappas had a similar experience back here in 1987 in Wheaton Il.
His wife dispappeared in 1982 and no one knew what happened to her.Vanished off the face of the earth.
5 years later,a retention pond right next to the Fire Dept. & only 3 blocks from his home,revealed the top of a cars roof during a drainage.
Sadly,they found she took a wrong turn one night and drove right into it.
