I know the owner of this car. He is an honest guy who believes the car is real. Of course I never saw it before he restored it, or how much he started off with before he got into it. Says he does not have much paperwork for the car, which of course is necessary for one of these cars.

David,

With the difference between "real" money and "clone" money being as significant as it is in this case, I have to wonder why your friend has not gone to the extremes in finding past owners with the money and paper trails to come up with some evidence it is indeed the real deal. Did he consider hiring a Chevelle expert to provide any physical attributes of the car as he started with it, or someone familiar with DMV research? There had to have been configuration indications it was a big block versus a 307 car. No documentation, no owner history, and chock full o' restamps kind of speaks for itself.

Just my opinion here, nothing more.

Did he actually do the restoration or did he hire somebody to do it?? If he did hire somebody, who was it??

The owner John, has a collision/resto shop about 15 miles from ours. I never asked about what he began with, specifics to the car, or validity to it's origins. Just asked him about the progress as he'd visit our shop for new parts he put on the car. FYI He did not get any of those stamped items from us! For all I know he could have been taken when he purchased the vehicle. Would definitely be interesting to find out what previous history he does have for the car. Hopefully for his sake it's not fraudulent paperwork!
