Well Tony, when we did the engine, back in the day, I didn't think I could put the alternator on the "correct" side because the heads we installed didn't have the bolt holes in them like the stock heads did. So I bought a "short" water pump, changed out the pulleys and used the header alternator mount on the driver's side. I changed everything back to "correct" in 1997 when I realized that I could use the stock brackets for the alternator and just put a nut on the end of the bolt that was supposed to go into the head. I had the original water pump rebuilt, reinstalled the original smog pump, added tubes into the headers I bought in 1969 and it was just like "day 1" again (well almost!!). It's hard to see in the picture, but after I had the headers aluminized, I painted them baby blue. Remember when that was the "hot" color for headers, or even white??

BTW, I did go to the Garden Grove cruise night tonight and ended up winning a trophy for "Best Original"!! I was totally surprised!!
