I just got rid of Widows and bought a Mac just because of the virus threat.

I understand the MAC is pretty much bulletproof from most viruses today, but not all.
If more & more people buy them, wouldn't the viruses affecting them increase too?

I have both Mac and PC. Do banking and such on the Mac, but they don't seem to surf the web quite as fast, and are a little funny with some wireless connections. They both have their place.

I have McAfee anti-virus and have not seen anth warning on the SYC site.

We haven't had any virus problems when using Norton. It may be a little "over sensitive" at times. Right now, it won't automatically fill in our password on the SYC site - it says that there is a "moderate" security threat. No problem in overriding the warning and signing on though.

Rick,

Market share for Macs has increased in the private user sector (high school, graduate/college student, out-of-office professionals, etc) but corporate (banks, lending institutions, government agencies) have not and most likely will not switch over to Mac. The only professionals using Macs are art design, movie editing, graphic editing, magazine lay-out, etc. Hackers would not waste time on a virus that could affect the daily flow of those businesses. There are Mac viruses around but they are far and few between. The learning curve takes a week tops but the capabilities and simplicity continuously amaze me on a daily basis.

I switched from McAfee to Norton about 8-9 years ago. Sometimes it slows the machine down because it is over protective (son in law says that). Better safe than sorry.

As I stated earlier, I switched to a Mac and really enjoy it. My change from Windows was two fold. First, I had a reason to; my 4 yr old Dell crapped out on me. Second, I am fortunate to have several IT guys at work and you can guess what they use at home. No more (at least not yet) memory hog virus programs that seem to just slow things down.
