It's legal to own a 45. To carry, you need a concealed weapon permit from the sherrif's dept in your county. It's not a difficult permit to get if you have no issues. It's good for IA. only.

We just lost a vote last week in the US Senate that would have given reciprocity for concealed carry permits nationwide. 58 senators voted yes...this only missed by 2 votes!!!
