You can see 3 lines. That´s the strength limit. And the SS is the Manufacturer  schrauben-normen.de/amerikanisch

The 3 radial lines on the head indictate a SAE J-429 grade of 5.1. You're correct about the SS being the manufacturers head mark. The IFI or Industrial Fastener Institute logs those markings and sells the list to members. I have one somewhere but can find it.
