If it is an 888-37 amp,those were installed on 1970 Buicks originally.
8-last digit of year.
L-month November (Exclude letter I)
28-day assembled
That's a pretty early assembly date for a 1970 model.

It might actually be 836,which is a 37amp installed in any of these w/6 cyl.
1969 Caprice w/SMOG or P/S.
1969 Nova/Acadian w/SMOG or P/S.
1969 Chevelle US & Canada w/SMOG or P/S.
1969 Camaro w/SMOG or P/S.
1969 Canadian St.Wagon w/P/S.
