In 1970 there were 3 different Nova tanks.
A. the 68 - mid 1970 straight neck vented (used at least until Jan 1970) B. the 1970 angled neck vented C. the 1970 angled neck with EEC Looks like a mid year change even though Quanta only lists the angled neck for 1970. And they used the same picture for the B and C and the 1971-1972 Nova. Which vented tank is causing the problem? Straight or angled? Grady yours should be a straight neck. At first I noticed occasional high pressure in my original tank with a after market cap. This was not there with the original. But does seem to be going way with time. I am having the original replated for other Nova. Greg

Greg , Yes my tank has a straight neck. The only thing I thought would be the same as 70 was the ring for the gas cap.

16 years later I'm going to be installing a SPECTRA PREMIUM tank (bought 25 years ago) into my 70 Z28 Restoration.......
Its been suggested that I replace the wrong SP neck with a OEM Filler Neck for my Spectra Premium Tank 1) Are the Filler Necks Soldered into the tank..??? In which case I could ask a Radiator Shop to change out the necks 2) Im in need of a 1970 Filler Neck for Camaro but maybe other GM necks would work even if longer ??????
