I think the single letter notation in the date code you guys are talking about,denotes the steel plant manufacturers name.
From what I have witnessed: S stood for A.O. Smith(Sometimes found with a circle around it too.) PON stood for Pontiac,Mi. PPS stood for Parish Pressed Steel. I'm not familar with the N notation as of yet,but it could mean Norwood,as they may have had a steel manufacturing plant there named that as well. |
