70 Chevelle LS6 Just Found Any Info
This is my first time posting on this site, though I frequent it often. Last night I came across a car in barn, just outside Chicago. I was asked to go look at the car, and I didn’t leave until I had the car. The farmer inherited the car 20+ years ago. He was going to put it together and like some he got married, had kids and the car just sat. The guy didn’t know what the car was. He thought it was Malibu and not an SS because of the door panel emblems saying “Malibu”. The dash has not been taken out and has the original 6500 tach in it. It has also been off the road since 1974. I was quickly going through the car this morning and came across an E.T. slip from Rockford Drag Way, which I believe was closed in the 70’s. There was also a sticker in the window that said River Grove 1972. I also found a business card in the glove box from Nickey Chicago, the guys name on the car was Andy Witt. Does anybody know who this is? If he is still alive he may remember this car… I started taking the passenger side armrest out, but haven’t got the rear seat pulled out, trying to find the build sheet. I will dig in deeper later tonight when I get home. What I guess I am asking for is, if anyone may know of this car from the 70’s? Is it a famous race car??? Probably not, but it is worth the question. It’s going to be restored or I may sell it, but if I restore it is going to need the same lettering on it as when it was a racecar. The car is blue with a blue vinyl top and blue cloth interior. It still has the plastic on the seat and even on the sun visors. It was originally a 4-spd and they put an automatic in it. On the back quarters it says “Sudden Action” and the trunk lid reads “If you got it, flaunt it!” I attached pictures as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated… Thanks, Joe
