Default Casting date versus assy date curiosity

A seller on the internet tells me about a Big Block (1970) Automatic T-400 L-78 short block.....Deck info T0601CTY Vin on Deck 10W360848 (W = Nova correct?) this is on a "272" Block cast E-1-9 ....... Anything is possible but a June 1970 Big Block should have been on a 854 Block ????? and whatda think of the difference between May 69 casting and June 1970 assy ??? .....How might this be explained ???
Thanks, Chuck (I did not see any of the above with my own eyes)
