Default 70+ Camaro Sport Mirror Glass ????

1) Is there anything that can be done to diminish the scratches in date coded
side view mirror glass, before you polish thru the refective silver mirror finish

2) If I buy new replacement glass with NO date codes I lose Originality Points
If my glass is too scratched I lose Condition Points

3) Pic below shows date code of Jan 1970 (1 - DMI - 0)
I have other 70+ Camaro Sport Mirrors where the right
hand number is 9 and one that is 8......Was this same
glass used in earlier Chrome Mirrors as I can undertsand
why the 8 (1968) Year Code
