On a Chevelle Facebook page there has been some discussion (and a lot of inaccurate information) about post cars, specifically the 300 Deluxe SS cars. A question was asked in regards to weight of the post cars versus the hardtop/coupe.
I was always under the impression that the post cars were lighter and obviously stronger. But the question is if the post cars are lighter in an apples to apples comparison to a hardtop, by how much lighter and where are the areas of the post car that make it lighter? Years ago I had a 1970 Skylark post car with no AC. With a Stage 1 455 (BB Buicks weigh about the same as a SBC), Turbo 400 and 12 bolt Chevy axle it weighed 3460 empty with a 1/4 tank of fuel. That's BB Nova weight and I remember being very suprised at how light the car was at the time. Thank you guys in advance Todd
