I was at the Ontario Camaro Nationals this weekend when I came across a 1967 Camaro Convertible.
It was blue with blue interior. Not a restored car, a well worn survivor type car. Automatic, very worn interior. To be honest I really didn't spend much time looking at it because it wasn't a fresh rest. As I was walking away the owners comes over to talk to me about the car. He tells me he is the original owner! He says he bought the car out of a showroom in Hamilton, Ontario after the 68's were out. The car was blue with blue interior. He ends end finding out the dealer painted the car blue because the original color white wasn't selling? The car is a 396! He tells me he ended up finding out years after buying the car that it is a 1967 Camaro Pace Car Replica and he has the Canadian paperwork to prove it! I've heard a lot of stories about people buying used cars that they didn't know at the time were rare cars that could be very valuable but to hear about a guy buying a car new in the showroom that the dealer repainted and the original owner doesn't know it was actually a pace car replica! Cool story! |
