I'm not so sure I believe that story, although that's not to say it's not true. I do think since each of GM's brands operated practically as independent companies, it's possible that this story is Olds-specific. Whatever the case, I can think of numerous cars that were ordered with non-RPO colors that had nothing to do with anything other than the owner wanting a color that suited his/her personality, or perhaps for a promotion.
