Re: Value on a low (really low) mile 1995 Camaro 1
Thanks for the compliment on the car. It is a pretty car.
You folks might find this interesting: Before the 1LE became available, GM of Canada Motorsports built a fleet of cars for the Player's Challenge series they were promoting. I'm quite sure those cars provided the seed for the 1LE cars that came later. I acquired one of those early Player's Challenge cars for magazine and book work. It came directly from GM of Canada. It was a lightly used 1986 Firebird T/A that saw parade duty for the Player's Challenge series. The car was white with a grey cloth interior, and much like the later "official" 1LE cars, it was pretty basic. It ran great though. I drove that car from Oshawa, through the US Midwest and westward to my home in Western Canada. During the trip, the Wisconsin State Patrol became, uhm, interested in the top speed capabilities of the Firebird. I didn't go to jail, but I suppose I should have. I'm an ex-cop and we did have a rather lengthy discussion about the accuracy of VASCAR. . A day or so later, I ended up parking it part way in my driveway at home -- My wife and I arrived in a raging blizzard. It was a road trip and a half.
To make a long story short, the car was eventually turned into a NHRA Super Stock GT car (and updated from 1986 trim to 1992 trim). My race partner campaigned the car. We had a very limited budget, although some racers accused us of big factory support: "Those guys have bow tie blocks stacked up like cordwood". I only wish. We had one 255 HP 350, one good Powerglide and one broken Powerglide and two torque converters. We eventually sold the car to pay off our slightly over extended credit cards (L-O-L). And the year after, it won the NHRA Super Stock World Championship. It was one of those cars that had soul.
