I'd add one too but weren't the 66/67 Beaumonts all originally shipped w/ flat hoods...even the Mk1V cars? .

Some time between October 27/66 and January 5/67 the Sport Deluxe's were assigned a special 738 model VIN number and at some point started receiving the big block hood. The early dealer brochures showed the Sport Deluxe with a flat hood and later ones showed the Sport Deluxe with a big block hood. ![]() Canadian built Malibu SS and Chevelle SS models apparently went through some changes during the 67 model year but I don't know the details. ![]() |

Helmet,
Thanks for any clarification on these...I've never been quite sure what the situation was?? . So all '66's were flat hood, Mk1V included? . And on '67's, besides the brochures, have you seen absolute examples of the SS hood on these...also if they did start showing up at whatever date, do you know if they did continue on all Mk1V cars to the end of '67 production? On the factory Canadian SS small block cars (I've always found not a lot of US guys know these existed), the SS hood wasn't available even as an option was it? . Thanks! ![]() ~ Pete

I can't say about the 66's... don't know much about them. I do know for certain that some 67 Beaumont SD's received the big block hood.
Should we start a specific thread on this topic? |

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry for hijacking your thread. . I'm not that concerned about the hoods...just thought I'd bone up on some knowledge and try and fill in some missing gaps of what I understood. . I appreciate what info you've relayed so far Helmet...anyone else w/ any knowledge on these? . ![]() ~ Pete

No problem... I'd also appreciate any further information that members can share. Can we rename this thread, or copy these posts into an appropriately named thread so it attracts the right attention?

Acadian Canso??? never seen a ss style hood on 66 or 67( nova) Beaumont SD remember seeing one 66 with a hood not sure if it was factory but there was three factory SD 67's in town in my end of Nova Scotia. All three had raised hoods including the 327 4spd a friend had since 69 or 70. Truth was the original owner ordered the hood in late 67 and put it on this car.
He just sold this car about 2 years ago and it is in Truro, ns being fully restored. He actually parted out the other two over the years. One was a yellow factory feb dated 396 4spd and the second was a black 427 4spd. He had the hood off the black one and the 4 spd console/ muncie and shifter but the hood was rough on the front.I am not sure if he let all of the spares he had go with the car or not. Now before I get jumped. The black car came off the lot new with a 67- l-36 in it. It had one owner it's entire life who worked at the dealership. It had Gm chrome covers and a fully chromed snorkel air cleaner( which I still have) Back then there was not a chrome shop within 3000 miles of us for someone to plate these. I kept it because it was unique.. |
