Default Wheel Vintiques

Not careing about correctness or matching numbers, I bought a set of 15 x 7 steel wheels from Wheel Vintiques for my 66 Convert........they arrived just before last years Power Tour, got'em painted and installed....along with new Coker Redlines.........."Tire Shake City"...Didn't have time to deal with it at the time so I put on the 14" redlines that were on the car previously (No Shake)on the front and sorted thru the 15's on the rear axle until I hit on a combination that had minimal shimmy ( wanted the 15's for the PT as I had no Overdrive)
The tire store I bought everything from was not really interested in resolving this issue....Didn't drive the car much after the PT (Engine woe's) ......this spring I put the 15's back on and the shake was back......anyhow.....Went back to the tire store and took the owner out for a ride......he agreed that the Shake was unacceptable, but I waited too long to resolve the problem (Selective Memory).....
Anyhow......I called W-V direct after checking wheel runout.... .040 side to side .. .060 concentricity on two worst rims.....they agreed to send out 4 new rims for $220 delivered......Checked them out today and the worst one run's out .020 in one direction only...pretty good....
Why as a Consumer do we have to deal with this Dog and Pony Show to get what we pay for originally?? ..........Just Venting........

Ken

That totally sucks Ken. You had to pay twice for what you paid for originally...ever wonder if the person who runs Wheels Vintiques is even a car guy?

Wow! Ken your stories have not been pretty as of late. Sounds to me like it`s time for you to find a car restorer that can take all of the burden off of you shoulders...this way you won`t have to be the middle man either.

Good luck on the Power Tour!

Dan.

Commuication, I being the managing partner of a Ford store always have my door and phone for customer complaints. I try to tell the employees that everyone make mistakes and thats ok its how we learn, but! the end result of a mistake can make a happy customer or a not so happy. Our customer satisfaction rate is a 98% happy customer base to date. A happy customer tells 3 or 4 people and a pi%@ed off one tells 10 or 15, i know where I want to be.

These aftermarket "Guy's" have us trained very well as we (Car Guy's) accept Mediocrity(sp) as the norm......If I ran my Business like that.....I would been out of business a long time ago......we give the Customer what they pay for.......What a Concept.......
