Default Heater control removal in a '72 Nova?

How do I remove the heater/blower controls in a 1972 Nova SS?
It seems I have to drop the radio but that is giving me trouble too

Any help would be great!

I believe it is the same procedure as the 69 Camaro if you have the repair manual. You have to remove the dash pad as there is at least one upper mounting screw holding the top of the verticle slide housing in place.

PITA especially when dealing with nice componets..adds to the stress...
cluster has to come out, radio can stay ,I dont think the pad has to come out I did two this last year and recall leaving a bad pad in the car.. unhook the cables and pull it out Dan

I have a 68 Camaro. Once the unit is out, how do you remove the always broken defroster lever to replace with a new one? Do you drill the rivet out and replace with a new one? How have you guys done this?
