Ah yes, the interior. They always hold some secrets. Kinda odd for a car that has gone through the amount of refurbishment this one has, and it appears as nobody has ever pulled the seats I've seen much worse though....

I was a bit worried about the seat belt bolts once I saw that. Those came apart nicely and think they will clean up very well

I'll pull the seats apart, polish the hockey sticks, and give these seats a good cleaning. I should be able to make something pretty nice out of these

My Dad will be up here on Friday, so I can get the hood back on then. At that point, I'll pull the column and gauge cluster, plus continue to disassemble.

----Tim,,,Are you doing all the carpet or just seats forward? The back appears nice, but not quite there. None of any of the carpet companies do the divider carpet without the plastic backing (the factory never had backing in that one spot) , and I can't stand that. Makes it hard to get it over and around the top and back down. Always a struggle to make it really look original.
----Ohh, Forgot,,,Nice crispy seatbelts....Bill S

Bill, I just put carpet in one of my '67's and you are absolutely right. I did think that Auto Custom Carpet does a good job otherwise.

I'm going to work my way into it is the honest answer. I'm concerned how detectable the difference would prove to be between color, as well as the "texture" between the two. While I am preparing the car for judging (and the replacement rugs will take a deduct) my end game is to sell this car. I'm thinking a buyer would be a bit more discriminating than to tolerate the difference between new and old. The seats will break it up, and that will be my determining factor.

On the bright side, I didn't find any prior owners ashes like the white 62 I had a while back! That creeped me out a little

----Tim,,,I don't think enough people know what the problem even is. It would be relatively easy for ACC to run some "un -plasticed" carpet either on the end of a run or at the start, but enough people would have to put in their 2-cents for it to happen....Bill S

Slow but steady on the disassembly. The dash pad came out nicely. There are 2 clips that are rather inconvenient to access, but that was the worst of it. I'll clean inside the dash and all around the under dash items. Then I'll remove the carpeting and start cutting out for the seat tracks.

I was happy to see the areas of the center dash along with the drivers dash pad were not faded. I'm going to test the vinyl paint shortly and see if I am going to need to dye both pads or only one.

I was able to use the original floor underlayment. You could say it fits nice as it's had 59 years to get comfy in there

Then the first pass on the front rugs. Using the originals as a template, I made some initial cuts and began to fit them in. This morning, I started to steam the rugs in order to get them to relax a little more. A bit more trimming will be in order, but I can sneak up on that.
