SUPER RARE FACTORY PERFORMANCE
THIS IS A REAL HYS 1970 YENKO DEUCE NOVA

ONE OF ONLY 10 CITRUS GREEN HURST YENKO DEUCES BUILT/ AND ONLY 4 OF THESE WERE 4 SPEED CARS
THIS YENKO DEUCE RETAINS IT ORIGINAL COWL AND DASH TRIM TAGS AND HIDDEN VIN #
In 1970, Don Yenko, a renowned racer and Chevrolet dealer, introduced the Yenko Deuce—a high-performance version of the Chevrolet Nova.
NUMBERS MATCHING HYS #138 (HURST YENKO SUPER CAR)
This was the very first of the Citrus Green Yenko Deuces built of the mere 10
Built under Yenko/ Hurst order #QLL531
Sold at Thorstad Chevrolet in Madison WI. USA on 7/ 9/ 1970 by salesman Mike Morgan
Original owner Robert Kampon

I have in my notes that it has been repainted and has 79K miles. I'm not sure how long ago that was so it may have more by now.

Not to be that Guy but this is the Super Car Registry; I last looked at this Deuce when it was for sale back in 2012, in Portage Wisconsin.

It had quite a reputation as a street racer. It was owned by the brother (John Gruber of 208 E Edgewater, Portage, WI) of the second owner, from what I was told. Brother had passed. Owner had one of those Hillbilly nick names, like "Skeeter." Not sure, and no disrespect to my fellow Hillbilly friends. John owned the local garage in town. Seller representing the car was a Brad Brock.

Interesting note is that Carl Wegner / Wegner Motor Sports out of Markasan Wisconsin drove in this Deuce and shared some it's street racing prowess.

Good solid bones, with minimal rust for a Midwest Car. The car had been hit in the front and repaired. The car was tatered but mostly complete.

I certainly would not use the term "Survivor" to describle the car. I went cash in hand and did not purchase the car explicitly because it did not have it's original engine as had been advertised. I do not remember about the transmission but do recall the 12 bolt axle as correct, with a gear change, per the owner.

The car was not cheap, in fact asking price was strong, but for an original numbers matching, 4 speed, Citrus Deuce.............I was willing to bite.

Original trim tag and VIN, no paper work at the time, but veifiable local history.

It did not have Sport Mirrors or the optional "Yenko" Steering wheel.

Very Kool Deuce!

I wonder if this is the same Nova he brought to machine shop class at Fergus District High School in 1990?

I remember he brought a 1969 Nova painted all 80’s/90’s it was mainly dark green with different colours, and even had oxy acetylene torch smoke under the clear coat, I loved it but was already becoming more of a purist by reading MCR.

The auto shop teacher brought a drag race duster also and did a micro brake sand in class :-)

Cool update Stefano, thanks for sharing details also realities!
It’s disappointing Chis’ Ad notes original parts he knows are not, old threads here include some items he sourced/was seeking like Rad + Mirrors also another when Restamp Engine confirmed.
Ryan, Chis has mentioned having 3x Novas in threads here over the years, all Green?
He posted about buying a ‘69 L78 Nova @ 14 also subject ‘70 Thorstad Deuce in 2013, but most interesting was his mention of owning a factory LT1 Nova sold by Central, like Copo Pete’s car-RIP.
As many here know, two factory built LT1 ‘70 Novas were shipped to Central Chev, London Ontario Canada including Pete’s car, all others known went to Yenko for the Deuce program.
Pete’s sons have his car now and other Central LT1 car reportedly known scrapped, I’ve always hoped Chis would clarify whether he owned the car later scrapped or if another/more to the story?
The ‘69 L78 is most likely the one you’re remembering from High School Ryan but again, it’d be nice if Chris would drop back w/ more info about his Non-Deuce ‘70 LT1 car, here’s a link to the thread when he mentioned it…https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=125069
