For the very same reason some of us restore the interior floor pans exactly how they were done at the factory. For starters, when a customer pays for a concours restoration, that is what they will receive. I do the same on the vapor barriers as well including the green inspection stripe and paper assembly line decal (Chevelle). Paper only and installed exactly how the factory installed them using the same ribbon caulk. I guess I am just anal about being as close to assembly line correct as one can get other than body, paint, fit and finish. As anal as you are Chuck, I am surprised you would settle for second best whether it can be seen or not.
