Here you can see the evidence of the mask used when this manifold was painted. Sharp edges rather than a fogged edge.

final valve lash set..exhaust manifolds on...may wind up ion the car tomorrow!

Shouldered bolt pairs on both ends......number 1 &amp; 7 and 2 &amp; 8.

Has anyone ever seen the engine install plate that is attached to the carb studs pull off? I've never used one of them because I'm always concerned that those 4 studs will pull right out of the aluminum!

A few months back I was bolting my lift bracket to a BBC and noticed one stud would not torque up. So even after the heli-coil repair I elected to use a chain bolted to the heads, Makes me nervous too.

I was always leery of using the plate, but I have a lot of friends including my engine builder who uses it all the time. I ended up setting my engine in and had no issues at all. I can't remember the numbers but if you add up the strength of four 5/16&quot; bolts......they will hold a lot, even in aluminum.

Anyway.....your project looks great Albert. Can't wait to see/hear it in Ohio.

moving along now..motor is back in the car..trans and all the underneath stuff is done..few more items up top and she should run again..if it would only stop snowing!!
