And there is a ghost of a stamp right below the one we can read. You can see the 0 before the next two numbers and then, clearly, a 2 and the angle leg of the R. I do believe an acid treatment would reveal more and could put all doubt to rest...

You are correct and it is simply nothing more than a rebound of the T0402CRV. That too was looked at very carefully. Obviously that was one of the first things I looked at and rebound stamps are very common.

Indeed, it could have been a fair investment. However, the car now looks nothing like when you saw it in it's race form with the race engine. Lots has been done to it to bring it back to original.
