I am acting in somewhat of a 'consultant' position on the restoration of my friend Brian's 68 Camaro. Since the last complete restoration I did on a car was completed 13 years ago, I know there has been much advancement in the restoration field. I had relied the book "How to Restore Your Musclecar" by Greg Donahue and Paul Zazarine for information, but in reviewing some reference material from that book, I am sure there are some things that are flat-out incorrect. Brian's Camaro is not going to be a concours level trailer queen; it will be driven and only taken to small local shows. But, we still want to do a reasonably good job of replicating original finishes wherever possible.
That said, what are the correct finishes for the following components: 1. Upper & lower control arms 2. Coil springs 3. Tie rod ends and sleeves 4. Center link 5. Pittman arm 6. Idler arm 7. Core support 8. Rear leaf springs & shackles 9. Rear axle housing 10. Driveshaft 11. Gas tank straps Thanks in advance ![]()
