Default 1968 396 Camaro ?????

Here's a good story. For years now, our bottled water guy that comes every week tells me that he has a 68 Camaro. No big deal, never really thought to much about it until yesterday. He decided to work on it with his son and I sold him a disc set-up. He starts desribing the car, says it has a 396 and 3.73 posi and that's all he knows. Bought the car in 1980 for $1500 and has had it since. I gave him my cell# and told him to call when he got home and he could answer a few basic questions to determine what it is. Short version from here is 12 bolt, turbo 400, Lemans blue with 714 black deluxe interior. The engine ### is CE 065192 and he goes on to say that it has a GM aluminum intake ##3947801. It has the correct heater core for the 396 no discs (which were optional in 68).
My thoughts are with a CE warranty engine and the square port intake could it be a 375 car??? T-400 and 3.73 posi and not many 325 cars popped under warranty.
I'm going up to his house this weekend and I can post pics and car serial #. Is there anything to determine which HP motor it came with??? I'll look for the build sheet when I go up this weekend!

Get the VIN/Trim tag info. Sad thing is without a build sheet/Window Sticker or POP you wont be able to ID what came in the car. If its a NOR car, you can just about forget about finding a buildsheet in the car. Now if its a LOS car look under the seats in the springs/under the dash/on top of the tank, drivers side. All in all sounds like a neat car and its a 68

If it has factory guages then the 375hp would have a 6000 redline. Also check to see if he dates on the heads and intake fall in line with the cars build date.
That can give you an idea as to the possibility of it being a factory 375hp car.
