Default Rubber mat removal

Anyone here ever taken a 70 Nova rubber mat out and not ruin it ???

20 years from now we are still going to see renditions of that pic floating around... I think it's become a part of the car's documentation.

PS, i can tell you how to get that mat out in 6" chunks if that helps.
