I've got my L78 Chevelle in the shop getting new sheetmetal and we're at the point where I need to decide if the car should be Dipped or Blasted.
I guess that I know most of the Pros and Cons, but was wondering if any of you that have gone through a frame off resto before have an opinion? Any help or reccomendations are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Blair

Talk to Micky at Micky Hale Restorations; he has significant experience with this issue.

Blair, i would not get it dipped unless it gets e-coat also. MCR, here in wisconsin does e-coating. Maybe charley can chime in on this? The "MULE" was dipped and e-coated. Roger

We had my JL8 car dipped and it makes a big difference over just blasting IMO. It really depends on who is doing the dipping and how well the body is cleaned up afterwards. Rich at PRC has been getting the cars dipped for several years and I don't think he has had any problems. We know that the car will never be a daily driver again so sealer and rustproofing won't really be an issue for it.

I prefer to 'da' the old paint off of the outer body panels, and media blast the underside and inside.

Dip and E-coat is great if its available in your area.
Keep in mind that it will strip off all the factory sound-deadener and undercoating if done properly which will be hard to duplicate. At that point, you will have a 'tin can' which will sound like a can full of marbles when driven. Reapply at least undercoating in the wheel-wells as the factory did.
