Default 1969 Cowl Hood Price?

Hey everyone, what would you pay for a NOS hood that's been painted once but never installed on a car? Looking to buy and wondering if $400 is too much...thanks!

That is cheap. Last GM ones had a higher price from the dealer. Make sure it fits.

Hey Charley, what kind of fit problems should I be aware of? Are the recent NOS hoods bad?

Just some of them bow up on the drivers side so they fit right at the corners bet are above the fender in the middle. I think I have seen some down in a rear corner also.

Make sure it is a gm hood. The area where the front hood bumpers hit the hood, are spot welded on with three spot welds. Also look at the back side corners. There was a great thread on camaros.net about gm vs repro. Roger

I recently installed a early NOS hood on a friends 69 Z28. After adjustments to the fenders, hood hindges and the hood latch, it fit pretty well.

Keep in mind that even NOS sheet metal was mass produced. The quality depended on the die and shoe (tooling), how many production runs it had been through and even how well the Die Setters (UAW skilled trades) had done their job.
