Is that a Hemi RT next to it? For a museum Piece you would think they would get the stripes right and detail it out a little better. I still wouldnt kick it out of my Garage

Beautiful ride. Nothing quite like an RS/Z. Speaking of Hemis, I was at lunch yesterday and some hippie looking guy (no offense, just painting a picture) with his Grizzly Adams buddy in the passenger seat, pulled up in a 68 Hemi Charger, totally original. Not restored, just flat out original red with a black vinyl top, red steelies with dog dish hubcaps. Man, I was just drooling.

While I am no Z/28 expert I can't see anything wrong with that car. What exactly are you referring to, I'd like to know so I can be more educated on first generation Z's.

Sam if you are refering to the stripe paint below the spoiler on the trunk lid it can be correct that way. I don't know the cars history and didn't see any date info in on the web page. If the car came without a spoiler and the dealer added it the stripe would be on the trunk like that one. Only if the car came with a spoiler from the factory would the stripes over the spoiler stop and not continue onto the edge of the trunk...

Amen! I'm kind of partial to this one:
http://www.classicdreamcars.com/69%20Z28-garnet.html The 70 R/T SE Challenger would be a very close 2nd.

Concerning the Orange Z/28 - the stripes are wrong because they should be white not black. Also, where is the antenna?

Too bad the Challenger is missing the original motor and it's A/C stuff. A/C is a nice option and the correct parts are extremely hard to get for an e-body (Cude/Challenger).

[/ QUOTE ] I am Looking at the stripes on the trunk, It says its a D80 so there should not be any, There is no Antenna for radio that I can see, I believe the alternator should be lower and to left more, does it have the right bracket?(Im not positive about that)and without a black vinyl roof should the stripes be white?...This is an awesome car, somebody did a nice job on it ![]() Sam

Sam I missed the "D-80 spoilers" refrence... I wonder if it's a D80 car would be too late for chambered exhaust?
As for black stripes is there a pattern, hugger gets white stripes unless it got a black vinyl top? I also understand the space saver spare was not available with Z/28 or JL8 in '69... I also feel this is a beautiful car, the web page doesn't say any of the options listed came with the car. They are there now and listed though. My guess is it will someday be for sale and passed off as "all options came with the car". |
