"BigDog" called me yesterday with a trim tag question, and I figured this was the best place to ask:
On the 3rd line of the trim tag is "M2"...does this have any significance? The car in question is supposed to be a L-78... |

What color and type of interior does the car have?

The code is 745, I believe that is green standard interior. It also has a bench seat, and it is a 4 speed, but I have no idea what the M2 means.
Thanks Terry |

I think those codes apply to the interior color and seating. The letter A is on the tag of several of my cars with black bench seats. I'll take a closer look and get back to you with some ideas. Tom

I think Tom is right, on my 68 the letter "B" all by itself represents the seatbelt color which is blue and this is shown in some of the books from GM from 68 that I have.I am not sure about the 69 model codes though.

I did some research on this a few years ago... Pretty sure that I gave Marlin what I had found too so that he could verify my findings on cars that he researched.
The letter has to do with interior color only... The style of interior (be it bench or bucket, standard or deluxe) has no bearing on the code. As noted, "A" was black, "B" was blue, "R" was red, etc... I don't recall ever seeing an "M" code though. The number following the letter denoted the exterior trim level. I don't have my records available currently so I'm going from memory on this, but I believe that no number following the code meant no exterior trim level, a "1" meant the car had roof drip rail moldings, a "2" indicated body side molding OR lower body molding, and "3" was roof drip rail moldings AND body side moldings OR roof drip rail moldings AND lower body moldings. The anodized window trim MAY have been part of "2" (sorry, I just don't recall at the moment), but always seems to be included when "3" appears on the trim tag. Regards, Stan |

M = Green Interior [/ QUOTE ] Greg, I don't think so... Pretty sure that "G" was green... There was also an "S" for sandlewood I believe. I'll check my records this evening and see what I can turn up for "M". [ QUOTE ] M, or Rowdy Rat, do you remember the tag for that BB car that did not fit? [/ QUOTE ] The car was a LeMans blue/black interior L-78 car with an "A2" code. The interior code of "A" fit OK, but the car had NO exterior trim where a "2" would indicate it should have had a body side molding or lower body molding. It was said to be a low mile, original car, but it is hard to say for certain if it was... I don't think, Marlin, Brian, or I were able to inspect the car in any detail because of the setting. This was the only exception out of a couple hundred cars that I've looked at to this point. I would guess that Marlin has looked at more than I have and can comment on what he has seen. I agree with Stan 100%, not sure how many cars I've looked at though. I don't really keep track of the cars that fit the mold, but I'm really looking for the exceptions. That blue/black L78 didn't have any clues of the moldings. I remember looking in the trunk with Stan to see if the holes at the ends of the body side moldings had been mudded over - didn't look like it. It was a decent car, just couldn't figure out the discrepancy.
I also believe 'G' is for the green interior, 'S' is for Sandalwood, 'B' is Blue and 'A' is black. Does this car have a cloth interior?
