On the subject of 1970 LT-1 camshafts......I just received one in a parts package deal that alledgedly is "Brand New". The lobes appear unworn and the bearing surface have a preservative on them......I can see a "GM" mark in the steel and some "pink" paint but othyer than having someone check the previously quoted specs how can I tell what it is?????.........Thanks, Chuck

Chuck;
There should be a number stamped/cast on it somewhere, I think it should be 2178? M [Edited by YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY (01-21-2002 at 05:33 PM).]

Finally got around to examining the "LT-1" cam I spoke of above.......indeed the end is stamped with the 3972178 that Stan points out. On the rough cast area just forward of the dist drive gear there is "1539" cast in not stamped and 180' around same area is I 5,...possibly 1 5......are any of these #'s the casting dates, as I dont have the same 4 digit #'s the others above quoted......at any rate does NEW G.M. LT-1 cam have much value in anybodys opinion.....Chuck
