Did all of the 71 Motion Camaros get electric fuel pumps? Also if the car was equipped with the factory tach and gauges did they still get the aftermarket tach and gauges? The stripes on non Z-28 cars were the wide single stripe, did all of them have that stripe on the roof?.................RatPack..............

My '71 BM Camaro started life as a Z-28 prior to the installation of the LS-6 by Motion. It seems like the Z-28's did not get the roof stripes only the cars that started life as Super Sports got them. I believe Kevin's is the same way. My car also has a Motion installed Sun tach in addition to the full factory Z-28 gauges. My car does not have an electric fuel pump, but has a hi-perf. mechanical one. Not sure how common this was. Seems like the older BM's had the dual trunk mounted electrics. Hope this helps. It's hard to get good information on the BM's as they didn't build many and they don't seem to get out of the garages often.
You seem to be asking a few of questions about '71 BM Camaros lately, did you locate one?? [Edited by COPO (12-29-2001 at 07:18 AM).] |

Does your car have underdash gauges or a console? The only 71 Motion car I have seen is Mike's and that is only from pictures. His car started life as a Z also. I am more interested in the ones that started out as an SS or base V-8 Camaro. Just wanting to learn as I have not found one, yet.............RatPack...................

No console on mine and no under dash gauges.
I do not believe any of the BM cars started out in life as base models. The whole premise of producing the cars cheaply was the original engine or short block could be re-sold by the Baldwin Chev. parts department. I believe they all started as SS or Z-28's. The 67-69 cars I have seen were all original SS cars. The '70 and later camaros seem to have started as both SS and Z-28's, but predominantly Z-28's. I have most of the Hi-Performance CARS magazines and Speed & Supercar magazines from that era that feature many BM's and don't recall ever seeing a base car. Not saying this is absolute by any means, just basing it on what I have seen and learned to date. Was thinking a couple of other board members also owned BM Camaros. Perhaps they can add some additional info. |

COPO, Has your '71 been in any publications? I'd love to see some pics! I'd also like to find some pics of Bill Ogle's car (green standard front SS). Anyone know him?
