Not so sure about this, believe it or not.

Hugger Orange (and variants) is coded 2084 while Rally Red is coded 2235.

You are correct. I should have said similar.

I just always remember that Olds took cues from some of Chevrolets most popular and vibrant colors, like Hugger Orange and Daytona Yellow, and made them available as special order colors on the W machines.

So while Daytona Yellow has the exact same paint formula code as Sebring Yellow, Hugger Orange has a different paint formula code than Rally Red.

Maybe someone with the actual formula break down can show us the exact difference?

Someone had to point this out to me because, logically, I used to assume they were the same color.

However, I must take issue with you saying Olds took cues from Chevrolet. Rather, all the brands shared most of the colors in their palette, and each brand was allowed to have a certain number of exclusive colors (for example, Shadow Gray for Chevy, Verdoro Green for Pontiac).

These colors were not optional on the W-Machines but, rather, for any Olds A-body.

Hugger Orange and Daytona Yellow were 1969 Colors available on Chevrolets. While you could certainly try to order these colors as special paint options on '69 Oldsmobiles, I would think it was not common.

Didn't Olds advertise some of the special order colors for the
W Machines in 1970?

Those colors were also available in 1969 Pontiacs too. They are not exclusives to the Bow Tie brand.

Sebring Yellow and Rally Red were two of four extra-cost colors for any 1970 A-body. They were not restricted to the 4-4-2.
