Happy to hear it's getting rescued from pro street. That style never did impress me, but then I am an old fuddy-duddy stuck in Day 2... My user name on other forums is Lost in the 60's..

I was young and impressionable during the pro-street era... really loved those cars at the time, but my tastes have changed and I'm right there with you on the Day 2 style now!

I went to High School with Fred's kids. When I was 16 (1998) we were the only ones driving cool old cars to school, so I'd park my Chevelle or my Dad's 68 Camaro next to the '71 Barracuda convertible that they were driving. That car was B5 (or maybe the darker B7 blue?) and it had a white top and white interior. I believe they sold it to the studio for the Nash Bridges TV show.

Fred actually bought my 70 Hemi Challenger and 69 Boss 429 at different times. He evidently knew some wealthy collectors as he upped the ante on those until it made no sense to keep them.

Bought a 4spd version of this car in 1989.
Central Iowa.

426 and 4spd were gone and it had a 318 auto in it.
Moter mount brackets crudely welded to the 426 mounts.
Did not cut anything.

Shaker dome was caulked and screwed to the hood.
Again, not cut up.

Dana 3.54 was still in it.

Decent car that need some freshening up.
Bought it as I had the motor and related stuff it needed.

Made the mistake of stopping by Fred Engelhardt's place in Elkton MN on the way home with it.
He was a major Mopar jockey at that time.

Car did not look bad, and he must have had a serious customer for it as the offers got to the point, I left it there.

Like car this thread is about a 70 Hemi Cuda blue- white- white with white hockey stick is a very nice-looking car.

Anywayz no pics of mine as I only owened it for 8 hours.
It did get fixed up nice so that is good.

To the OP NICE CAR.

Personal choice thing but I would not call that front suspension stuff "original".

Default Brake stuff

Daveg, I assume you’re talking about the spindle. When he got the car it had an aftermarket disc brake system on all four. He didn’t have the Mopar backing plates and other factory items so he got an aftermarket OEM appearing kit.
I’ve never met the owner but my friend who’s doing the work seems to be more attentive to originality than the owner. The owner handed him a blank check and said build it! It had a narrow Dana and tube chassis all which were removed, tubs cut out, then all new pans installed.
Correct engine will be completed soon, correct 8 3/4 located. We haven’t talked about the transmission any, I’ll ask next time I stop in.
My friend turns out some really nice cars n trucks. He’s the guy I’ve talked about that has the original paint 68 L78 Nova. He’s showing me a lot about the 68 to 72 Nova’s and how much difference there is in them. Lot of guys think they’re all the same but they aren’t!

No ill will intended, just pointing out non- factory stuff. BTW an auto 426 or 440 can have a dana 60 with the right option package.
