Olredalert Bill Stephenson's 1967 442 W30
I had the pleasure of visiting Bill and checking out his cool cars, during summer weather. We were close recently but our schedules couldn't quite collide:-( Soon.
Last visit I brought Bill a nice spare tire for his W30:-) We all know I love tire pictures:-) Ryan PS: the car is pretty cool to:-)

Re: Olredalert Bill Stephenson's 1967 442 W30
----Thanks for the help, Ryan! Much appreciated.
This W30 is probably my last restoration, at least on a car. Too much boat resto to do and old age not just creeping but galloping in. They made 502 67 W30s in 67 and they are very hard to track down. A number of them are still being raced and you occasionally see one at the Olds Nats or other Olds shows. This one went new to one of the iconic Olds performance dealers, Brainbeau Oldsmobile in Braintree Ma (google it). They backed the really well known racing team of Woodland and Andreesen from 65 to 67. During 67 the dealership went out of business and I'm fairly sure this car was sold right around that time. The racing team always ran 4-speeds but I suspect this car may have been ordered to attack the automatic class as well. When they closed, the team moved over to Berejic Oldsmobile in Natick Ma. and over a period of time gained a big reputation, culminating in a Smothers Brothers partnership. My car, however, went into obscurity. I do have a picture of it at Conneticut Dragway in 1968 with Cragers on it just parked. I actually found the car thru Jimmy Reid of Reids Automotive, my old engine builder when I raced Red Alert. He had helped out "Woody" Woodland out as Woodland (part of the racing team) had acquired it. The car is now at a friends shop having some finishing touches done, then back to me for the final assembly.......Bill S Last edited by olredalert; 05-03-2017 at 02:50 PM. |
