Thrush mufflers

Found a pair of NIB Thrush mufflers and would like to know about when these would have been used.
#4164 with a tag # 116-9.99

Would these work for a Day-2 car?

Are those the oval turbo-style muflers, or the round canister type with the flat ends? (the ones that do not look like a Cherry Bomb)

Not sure when they started producing those, but I know Thrush produced those mufflers into the mid 1980's.

I sure wish they'd bring them back into production! I'm sure they flow below horrible and cost a ton of power, but they're one of the best-sounding mufflers ever.

I picked up a pair off eBay over a year ago just to have them laying around in case I ever had something to put them on again.

Aaaahhhh...such fond memories of my youth lol.

As far as "would they be correct for a day-2 deal"...I say "who cares!"...run `em!

I've owned two vehicles with Thrush mufflers. Both were owned in the 70s. I had a '68 CST with a 396 that had thrush mufflers in a relatively stock 2" exhaust system - no headers. Then, I had a pair of their header mufflers [bolted directly to the collectors] behind a nasty smallblock in a '57 150. That was 1976. I agree - great sound!! I uncorked the headers when racing the '57, so capacity/flow was not an issue. The CST was my tow rig, so I just liked the sound!
