Hi Rick:
I have two differnt versions of this filter NOS. One is like yours which is actually painted silver which we always assumed was the correct one for 67/68 in fact I have one so old the box says 67 only and then we have silver plated ones which I thought was 69/70.The script is differnt between them also if I remember right.I can lay my hand on the painted one but not 100% sure where the plated ones are stuffed.
Have you seen both, if so what one is correct for 69/70.
take care
Joe

I think I have an NOS one of these somewhere, leftover as a spare for the 69 El Camino I no longer own... I'm not sure if its painted or plated, but I know it has the red/orange logo on it.. what are they worth? Might have to start digging for it.

Not really sure on the years applicable for the versions you mentioned Mac.
I've seen them with all black script on them as well..

Just out of curiousity... is it OK to use "NOS" fuel/oil filters? I know they're unused, but is the paper elements in 35+ year old filters still up to the task of being actually used as a filter after sitting in a GM box for that long? I'd think there'd be a potential for the paper to be dry rotted and crumble apart as soon as oil/fuel passed through it... Although the one I used was an old NOS piece and seemed to be ok.

Hi Joe:
We just used two old nos 61P filters in the last two weeks both were 30 years old min.No issues with either but both were stored indoors also all this time in the heat.
Rick I know for sure 67/68 impala had the painted ones but 69/70 don't know.
