Default ZL-1 BLOCK NUMBERS>>>DATABASE

Does anyone know the significance of the small stamped number on the back of the block above the bellhousing and on the main caps of a ZL-1 block...I have been keeping track of the data from a bunch of blocks as I have come across the info...both in person and on the web....I have a small database...if anyone has a dated block...especially with the small stamped # in the rear of the block and main caps, I'd like to add the info. to the database....I have info. on both original blocks and also the extra vette and camaro motors that were made at the time...i suspect that the small rear numbering included all motors together which makes it a bit more difficult to figure out a sequence...Someone told me that the blocks are out of sequence because in the engine room, it was first in, last out...makes sense, also seems to make some sense with my findings...they seem to be generally stamped in order by bunches according to cast date and # and small stamped rear number...but individually out of order...

anyone know??

Or do they already have this all figured out??do they already know which block had which number?? I assume if anyone knows, it would be Ed Cuneen..
