Had a decent site for deciphering, but link no longer works ( http://www.unionlabel.org/dobuy/tires.asp ). Anyone know of a decent source?
I have a pair of "Road Hugger" tires. Both tires with the following codes: (raised letters) DOT JCAH (stamped letters) MAF 027 Thanks! ![]()

J=Manufacturer (unknown to me)
I believe this is the 1971 and later 11 digit standardized DOT mandated code. J=Manufacturer (J is unknown to me, but is not Goodyear of Firestone) C=Plant location AH= size code MAF= tire line and type 027= 2nd week 1977 Dave |

Thanks Dave. These are Road Hugger tires and are bias ply. I believe they were still making bias plies in '77.
Anyone have a good web address for researching this info? ![]()

Hi,
These tires were probably sold by SEARS and most likley they were produced by Kelly TIRE a subsidiary of the GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO.Bias tires were produced for O.E.replacement by GOODYEAR up to that time as I remember. |
