Default Request for help with my project

As part of my position of electrical mod at the forum across the hall, I am working on a project called "What it is, Where it is"

When complete, this will be a pictoral representation of EVERY electrical componant and connection in a firstgen Camaro. Here's what I have so far http://home.comcast.net/~Jimragtop/What_it_is/index.htm It's not much, and most of the pics are my own car.

I need good clean pics of stock wiring and componants, clean enough to see the wire colors and connections, and hopefully with as much explaination as you can give me, particularly on 69's, as my expertise is limited to 67-68.

Post them here, pm me links, or email them to me, my email is listed.

Thanks in advance for your help with what I hope will be a valuable restoration guide.

Jim

Terrific effort Jim and welcome to the site. Don't have a 2nd Gen but this is a wonderful reference that will be a lot of work, but will do much for the guys doing restos or repairs on their camaros. Best of luck. I think there may be one or two 2nd gen Camaro guys lurking around here.

Thanks, Bob. Cooperation is where it's at, the best thing for all involved.

Whereabouts are you in "suburban Chicago"? I'm far west, town called Yorkville, would be cool to make your aquaintance, I've heard you deal in some fine cars.

Anything to contribute? I'd hate for all the pics to be my 68. I do have more, need to get back to work on it.

On the subject of cooperation, at this moment (on a very slow weekend) we have on my home site, side by side picture posts running, Scott is putting up some pics and Bruce has some up from last years Supercar Reunion. 300 views between the two on a slow saturday, so far, so good.

If anyone has some pics to add, please come on over!

Jim

It has been pointed out to me that mentioning certain names here is not a good idea. When I came in to edit it, "editing time had expired".

Pardon me, I'm new here and don't quite have everything sorted out yet.

When you read my post above, please substitute
"...picture posts running from 2 different supercar shows..."
For the existing text in the third to the last line.

If my wording has offended anyone, I'm sorry.

Jim

Welcome to the site Jim and thanks for a great addition. This is the sort of information that makes all these sites a pleasure to surf.

Jim...I'm pretty sure Yorkville is where Christ lost His shoes !! I'm in Niles !! I will figure out how to edit your post for you...but there is only ONE Supercar Show...not two. I look forward to meeting folks maybe at Lombard cruise or Elmhurst...Just look for Darren and big Dan the Pickle Man Vasic...

Jim Great Idea
I am restoring my 68 BB Camaro. I have the old wire set
and its cut up real good.So I ordered a complete set of
new wires from Factory fit.The reason I did that is because
I have used these wires on my L78 70 chevelle. It was recomended to me by a friend,as he challenged me to compare the new set to my old set, for the length, the colour of the wires the fusable links, everrything.I did with a vernier. They were identical to my origional in everry respect.I was so impressed with the new wires that I ordered them for my
new project 68.The only thing that was different was the headlite connecttors the new ones are clear and the old ones are brown. It only took 2 seconds for me to change them over. So if you need a pic of the new harnesses, for the Camaro, wich include the enjine harness, the dash harness, the front harness, the rear harness. the am FM harness, the multiplex harness, I will take a pic and send it too you

Peter, fantastic offer!
Thank you!
Shoot everything, you'll want em anyway, right?
Pics of the new harnesses layed out on the ground, kinda as it would go in, pics of the harness routing and attachment. I have the engine and lighting, need dash and rear. pics of every switch and connection. Especially dash stuff, i have the underhood and trunk from my 68, although variety is always good. Options, too... A/C, I have 69 pics but not 68. Power windows, power top...

I'll happily take whatever you have. You can email them to me, or burn em on a cd, I'll pay the postage.

sYc mod, if you guys would like a permanent link to this reference, it's not a problem. I'll always have it in my space where it is now, and shortly will be copying it to Team Camaros techref section as well.

And for Bob, yup, Yorkville is near the edge of known civilization, no doubt... but I love my acre of pines and maples, can only see my neighbors if I look hard, and we got lotsa nice smooth 2 lane roads out here... Niles, huh? that's like, almost in the city!
