Hey all...
I have been completing a frame off on a 69 Chevelle SS for about 5 years now. When we bought the car it was in shambles. It had been rumored though that the car may had been a Yenko. Since this is the first time I have undertaken a project like this I am unfamiliar where to go just to discount this information. I understand what the odds of this car have been a Yenko....but what the hell....anyone know where I can go or if there is anything I can look for myself that may lead me in either direction??? The car literally had nothing with it when we bought it...it was stripped down to the frame and bare metal....all though some Monaco Orange paint remained..... |

Check www.copo.com for a lot of COPO, Yenko etc VINs. Might just find yours there. You never know.

Thanks for the info fellas....this is exactly what I was looking for....doesnt look like it made it though.....its always nice to know for sure....
Got another one for you.....is there any instance in 69 where the original motor that belonged to the car would not have a matching or corresponding stamping to the VIN?? VIN 136379Z305739 what does the Z mean.....?? I know a B meant big block... |

It may not be the Yenko you'd hoped it would be, but if it's got a code 72 "Monaco Orange" paint code at least you're one of the lucky few who can confirm it's a true SS w/o original paperwork as Monaco was an SS only color. (code 76 Daytona Yellow was also) Good luck on the resto.

I think you will find that "Z" is the code for the Freemont, California plant. Our '69 el Camino was built there. These websites don't have all the COPO VINs. I know one car that they don't have listed so there must be more.
