Default "Pop Rod Show Stopper" photo

Found this in the August 1971 Popular Hot Rodding. Remember "Pop Rod Show Stopper" photos? This is one of them. The caption says: "Jim Hayter wheelies the Fred Gibb Pro Stock Camaro on his way to a fine 9.80 ET. Ektachrome by John Asher."

That is the #1 ZL1 as it appeared during the 1971 AHRA season when it won the ProStock Championship. Fred thanked PHR in the October issue for the publicity shot. It looked considerably different in its Championship livery, than it does today, along with having had an iron block 427 Diamond built motor.
