I have a chance to pick up a nice block with this on the front.
CE 363 06 casting # on back is 298 ? Can't seem to find it in any of the reference books. Has one too many numbers? ![]()

Do you mean Block#3999289?
The #289 Block was a 454 2-bolt main available from 1972-1978 on Chevelle-Corvette-Passenger-Monte Carlo & Trucks. What's the casting Date on the back of this Block? If this is indeed a Sequence number,CE Sequence numbers are usually 6 digits. Are you Positive there are no more numbers on that pad,it seems to be missing one after the second 3. *363 06=the first digit is the year,3 meaning 1973. *63(?)06=would be a legitimate Sequence number from Tonawada plant in that time Frame. |

Sorry guys for the double post. when I pulled it up yesterday the first one did not show up. I thought I had goofed it up somehow so I posted it again.
I know there is a number missing but I just can't read it. Hate growing old. It is a 4 bolt block that is for sure. there is so many coats of paint on the back that it is hard to read the casting date. Yes that is the cast block # 3999289 I am quessing that is Feb 22nd of ??73?? from the casting date and the number stamped on the front of the block. I was hoping that I was wrong but had that sinking feeling in my stomach that the date was too late for my '70 BM car. Thanks Pantera
