Default Advanced preview of '70 cars

Just thought this was interesting--The photo preview of the '70 Chevelle, before its public release showed rolled tip exhaust tips

I have that in Color, notice the Flat reverse bubble tail lenses,& Early design Deck lid stripes too.
There's even one with a 1971 wth rolled tips, taken in 1969 at the Design studio.I wonder if any 1970 SS Chevelles did actually get Delivered with rolled tips?
I've heard eyewitness accounts, but nothing more then that.It would have to be an August or September 69 built car.

That's common with other photos I have here. The Cover of the 1970 Chevelle Dealer Brochure shows a "Dude" stepping into an SS Chevelle. But the truth is it was a Red Malibu with a Cowl Ind. hood added,& Temporary Vinyl stripes applied.I have pictures of that car behind the scenes and you can see the Malibu hupcaps,Chrome rocker sills,& Rear Malibu Bumper, all airbrushed out before final print. The blond girl in a sweatshirt picking her nose too.
This is not uncommon among other GM photos prepping a car for public press release.

------Ive been around for awhile as have many of us and owned a number of 70 SS Chevelles, but this is the first time I have ever heard of two designs of trunk stripes. To add a little bit more; How could you spot the difference from that shot? Id really appreciate when the break was and if it was at the same time at all the different Chevelle manufacturing plants. Feel like Ive had my head in the sand!............Bill S

Morning Bill--If you turn your head a little to the left, you'll see my head in the sand also----
Mr70(Rick)--picked up on the stripes--maybe he has a better photo---This stuff was a pre-release preview of what supposedly the car would look like--Be patient, I'm sure Rick will save us from our sandy graves later on. ---Joe

-------Red Alert was a December built car and had the stripes we all are familiar with. I believe it was built past the middle of the month, however..........Bill S
