YORK, PA-In a few short weeks the York Expo Center at the York Fairgrounds
will be a virtual performance haven for some of the nation's finest musclecars and nostalgia drag racing vehicles from the 60's and '70's. The familiar rumble of the engines of the mighty Mopars, Chevrolets, Ford's and AMX entries will come to life at the Third Annual York US 30 Musclecar Madness on Friday, July 9th and Saturday, July 10th. The July issue of Hot Rod Magazine poses the question "What's Driving the Musclecar Boom"? In it's thire year the York US 30 event has contributed considerably to this resurgence of musclecar madness. The Supercar Workshop of Latrobe, PA has entered fifteen of the nation's finest Yenko Camaros, Novas, and Chevelles that have been the earmark of the musclecar phenomenon. Tom Clary from Alton, Missouri will be displaying the Dickie Harrell funny car along with Dick's daughter Valerie Harrell and Dale Pulde a renowned funny car driver in his own right. Matt Murphy from Marietta, GA has entered the Dick Aarons '69 Camaro that was the scourge of the Super Stock Eliminator wars. Other legendary entries are the "Jungle Jim" Liberman Pro Stock Vega, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins '74 Vega, Al Segrini's "Black Magic" funny car, the King & Marshall top fueler, the "Winged Express" of Marcellus and Borsch, the "Mr. 5 & 50" entry of Jack Werst, the "Jersey Jimmie" of Charlie Seabrook, the '68 Barracuda and '73 Pro Stock Duster of Ronnie Sox, the '68 Barracuda of Arlen Vanke, Phil Bonner's "Daddy Warbucks", and Lou Downing's "Pete's Patriot" AMX and the list goes on. The show has become the annual reunion not only for York US 30 Dragway, but for the Legends of Drag Racing. Legends in attendance will be Wally Bell, George Weiler, Bud Faubel, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, Pork Zartman, Ronnie Sox, "Miss Mighty Mopar" Judy Lilly, "Ohio George" Montgomery, Jim Oddy, Harry Luzader, "Little George" Cureton, Joe Jacono, Arlen Vanke, Ed Miller, Dick Brannan, Ed Hedrick, Tom Raley, Jim & Alison Lee, Hayden Proffitt, Lou Downing, and Jere Stahl to name a few. The Cruisin' Into Summer cruise in will be presented on the outside in the Cruise In Plaza and is expected to attract over 500 of the finest street driven muscle cars and street rods in the country. A DJ will be performing both days of the show, door prizes will be awarded every hour, and early bird cruise in entries on Friday will be treated to a cruise in to the Gettysburg Bike Week who will host them on the square of historic Gettysburg. The first Corvette Concours and Fun event at the show will be presented by the York County Corvette Club who expects in excess of 150 Corvette entries from throughout the Eastern seaboard. All entries will be vying for awards on Saturday of the show in the Cruise In Plaza. A special two day discount ticket is available at $20.00, single day $12.00, with children under 12 admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Parking at the show is FREE. Special discount ticket coupons are available at Weis Markets in York during the month of June with a $2.00 discount off the regular single day admission price.
