I'm slowly rounding up the parts to put a 1968 L88 427 back together. I'm having trouble reading the date codes on the 3899621 bellhousings. I have the Corvette and Chevrolet by the numbers books. They both say this is the right bellhousing. Their descriptions on reading the date codes are confusing and all of the bellhousings I've seen have codes totally different than whats in the book. I'd like to find one dated between Feb to March 1968. Does any one know how to read the date codes?

I have to agree with rick.. it's much easier to tell you what you have than to describe how to find it. There's a casting clock on the bell. It's date decodable
