Rob....to clarify. Wasn't the 150 a 2 door (post) sedan hardtop car? The same ones that were used to make the infamous 'Black Widow' race cars of the 1950's?

Correct me if I'am wrong please.

Craig,

Yes, the Black Widows were built on the 150 models. The 150 Series was a complete line of cars but was the bottom of the barrel in trim options (and weight!). The only body style NOT available as a 150 series was the two door hardtop (Sport Coupe). There are actually two versions of the two-door post body; one was the normal two door sedan with a back seat and roll-down rear windows, the other was the businessman coupe. That car had no rear window regulators and no back seat (here's your Black Widow). The 150 series had some pretty cool cars for the racers including the Handyman wagon and the Sedan Delivery. Wish I had one of each!

Dennis

Nope, wasn't me. Casey's got it figured out, though...I figured it didn't hurt to just see what's out there. Plus, I wanted to dangle the 150 bait in front of Brian and watch him squirm!

Dennis...Growing up as a youngster, I recall a local racer who ran a 57 150 that looked like a Nomad wagen without the glass in the cargo area. It had a 283 motor with fuel injection and he always won Stock Eliminator for all the $$$. Finally, the track officals told him not to bring the car back because it wasn't "Stock".

I've got 2 questions:

Was it a Sedan Delivery or Handyman Wagon that I saw?

Was a FI motor available in either models?

Thanks for all knowledgeable replys.

Craig,

The Handyman wagon had windows in the cargo area but not the same design as the Nomad. The Nomad used Hardtop doors with no frame around the windows and the rear side windows would slide open. The Handyman rear windows were fixed units and used sedan type full-frame doors. The car you describe was a Sedan Delivery, also referred to as a panel wagon. In '57, as in the early to mid '60's, if you knew the right codes you could get any engine in any body style. Yes, the 283/283 FI engine would have been available in the Sedan Delivery. Were there any actually produced????? Probably. I have seen a BelAir four door wagon with the 250 HP version of the FI 283 and Air Conditioning that is reported to be authentic. If they put them in 4 door wagons, why not in the S/D? Racers were pretty sharp even back then.
