Does anybody know of a shop that I can send my driver's side (ouside mirror mounted on the door)to that can completely restore them? By that I mean, new chrome, resilver glass and date code? Or do most of you just buy a new one? Thoughts?

Jim to my knowledge I don't think they don't make an exact repop for 70? I took the one off my 70 LS5 and just replaced it with an incorrect (I think) 69 version repop.

Although not the same, I had Paragon Corvettes make my 67 Camaro mirror with the correct etched dmi code. They'll gladly put a code on some new glass for you I'm sure

As the post stated get the new glass coded correctly. I have not heard or sen anyone who takes those mirrors apart and restores them. I would try to find an NOS one or put on a repop and look for an NOS piece. I wish someone would repop these mirrors correctly.
