OK, I wanna play too. Not an LS6 car but it was my dream car at the time, I was 16 years old. 71 Heavy Chevy, 350 2bbl, bench seat 4-gear with a Hurst shifter welded to the Muncie stub. Two trophies are from Lapeer drag strip(MI). 14:46 and 14:52 best times when the rear tires weren't bouncing off of the wheel well lips. "Jacked Up" was cool at the time. Traction bars, crude as they were, came later.100 octane gase was 35 cents a gallon and even at that price I had to borrow from the neighbors car...

I posted this in here previously under a similar thread, but we'll do it again. Had this car built and picked it up in December of 1969 from St. Remy Motors in Kingston, Ontario. Traded in my 69 RS/SS Camaro (it had been rearended at a stoplight and never was fixed right). This was a 396/350 car with TH400 and 3.31 posi. As you can see, I definitely wanted a different color than what was the norm back then. Had this car for a little over three years and still consider it one of the best daily drivers I ever owned. Traded it in on a 70 Caprice (daughter was on the way). This pic is from 1971 at my borther-in-law's wedding.

Nice Pictures guys.
Don,I always Like that picture. The Pom-Poms on the wheel centers are a nice touch. I wish I had a scanner. I have over 100 Prototype pictures of the 1970 Chevelle & SS model. These are all in B&W and color with Red and Black and Gold SS Chevelles featured. I also have 8X10 color photos of the 1970 National Sales Convention, and Detroit Auto Show.Showing ALL the new Cars on the Show floor and the 1969 Camaro models still carried over. These are very bold and detailed with engine, interior and trunk shots.Someday I will upgrade and share them with all. |

Broke an axle at Seattle International raceway this day. Didn't snap clean though. It twisted in a small spiral before separating.

Okay its not a Chevelle. But is my first Hemi Cuda that I used to race at Seattle Intenational Raceway. It was bone stock except for tires.

Staged, then off the line! I won. Either it was that, or I just have a convenient memory!
